Professional Training

Barbara Mencarelli was born in Corciano (Perugia).

She attended the Art Institute Bernardino Di Betto of Perugia. Under Prof. Lanciotto Fumi guidance she learned figurative-art and Prof. Lothar Heger taught textile-art. In 1966 she took her Diploma in Art-Teacher. Then she went to Florence for two years to study as a restorator.
In 1980 she started to work for the “Soprintendenza” of Perugia.

Activity
Barbara Mencarelli works in Italy and abroad. She lives in Umbria where she works part of the year. She tought at the Accademia Abadir in Sicily for several years (restorator).
At some time living in Germany. Since 1987 she is part of the group that work with Prof.Helmut Buschhausen at Vienna University (Austria). This group operates in Egypt and restored frescoes from the IV century D.C.

Chiesa e Convento S.Simeone di Stroncone. Technical relation with Dr. Aldo Cicinelli in Franciscan Art Production “Ricerca, memoria, conservazione” 25 th april 1983. Every year she publishes on the “Agypten und Levante” Annuary.

Art Life
Barbara Mencarelli starts to paint as a child. A 14 years old she starts her first exhibitions in Italy: Foligno, Nocera Umbra, Norcia, Gubbio, Corciano, Umbertide, Perugia etc.

Various personal and collective exhibitions at Palazzo Priori (Perugia), Galleria Cecchini (Perugia), La Postierla (Perugia),Corciano, Germany and Austria.

She paints on various materials: wood, metal, paper, canvas, plaster… Since 1979 she creates jewels (ring and bracelets).

In 1981 Barbara starts to sculpture glass and thanks to Egidio Costantini she takes part in numerous collective exhibitions next to: Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Max Ernst, Paul Jenkins, Raimond Dauphin, Robert Scherer, Amintore Fanfani, Mikuni Omura, Yoichi Ohira, Luciano Zanotti, Amedeo Bravo, André Verdet, Mark Tobey, John C. Portman, Jr., Oskar Kokoschka.
